Seeking Safety Groups
Seeking Safety groups provide a safe treatment environment for women affected
by abuse and trauma. Treatment is cognitive-behaviorally based and also addresses
substance use issues for women with addiction histories.
Healthy Relationships
This group provides tools to help participants understand and effectively cope
with conflict and anger, which can trigger both trauma memories and substance
abuse cravings.
Mothers
Participants learn parenting skills and receive parenting support, in the context
of meeting challenges posed by their own histories of trauma and abuse.
Managing Strong Emotions
This group teaches interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress
tolerance/reality acceptance and mindfulness skills, including dialectical behavioral
therapy skills.
Creativity Group
The creative process can heal, foster resilience, and enable insight. This group
provides creative exercises and the opportunity to share in a structured environment.
Medication Management/Health Group
Addresses patients' concerns related to medication and health issues. Co-lead
by the Medical Director.
Stress Management Group
Provides tips and coaching associated with relaxation, stress reduction, and
anxiety management.
Sexuality Group
This group provides an opportunity for women to explore how their past experiences
of trauma and abuse may be impacting their sexuality now. A variety of topics
related to sexuality and relationships are also addressed. Women of all sexual
orientations are welcome.
Restoring Inner Strength
For women with difficulty with dissociation, this group aims to provide support
and guidance in staying focused and in the present.
Trauma Process Group
This group is most appropriate for women who have achieved some stability in
their recovery from trauma and/or addiction, and feel ready to explore issues
related to their abuse with more depth.
The Women's Health Project provides a supportive, multi-modal outpatient treatment environment, including group and/or individual psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy, for women suffering from trauma or childhood abuse who may also use drugs or alcohol.
